For this post, we are showing again a drawing and the resulting painting. In this case, the drawing and the painting are extremely similar. This drawing has a sort of Guernica feeling to it. I think the graphic marks reflect the violence of the theme. The theme is Mars, the bringer of war (according to Gustav Holst). Unfortunately, we humans do not seem to need someone to bring war to us, because we can do it so well on our own. War itself will be a theme in a future blog post.
Here is the painting, coloured in greyed tones of red, yellow, green and blue, that resulted from the above sketch. The painting is very little altered, so I must have been happy with the original sketch. Again, I find the jagged, sharp edges suit the sentiments I wished to express.
