In the bible, Salome dances before King Herod, pleasing him so much that he promises her anything in return. She asks that the head of John the Baptist be brought to her on a charger.

Here is a quick charcoal sketch with rough abstract marks that I think still manages to set the scene.
Next we have a small painted version with a larger cast including an early appearance by the head of poor John. I like the blurred natural pose of my Salome here and hope my simple depiction makes some worthwhile connection with the viewer.
