Bird and Fish

When we moved into our present house there was a large empty wall over the fireplace. The first things I painted here were for that space.

Here is a painted sketch. I thought of the fish I have seen jumping from the river to feed in summer. The twisting flight of swallows inspired the bird.

Here is the large painting which evolved from the sketch. A ladybug appears on the right to slow down the scene. I know my images are often very simplified, but I sometimes think that in art the secret lies in making the difficult look easy.

Thanks for looking in,

Barry
